Biography

Ashton Eaton was the "World's Greatest Athlete" and he earned the title. Back-to-back Olympic decathlon golds (2012, 2016), two World Championship golds, and a world record of 9,045 points that may stand for years. He excelled in virtually every discipline — there was no weak event to exploit, no gap in his armour. He retired at 28, still at his peak, choosing to leave on top rather than chase a third Olympics. The decathlon has never seen anyone so complete.
