Biography

Annika Sörenstam approached golf with the precision of a surgeon and the dominance of a champion. Ten majors and 72 LPGA wins came through relentless preparation and a game without weakness. The 59 she shot in the 2001 Standard Register Ping remains the only sub-60 round in LPGA history - 13 birdies on a course that yielded nothing to anyone else. She completed the Career Grand Slam, won eight Player of the Year awards, and then walked away at the peak of her powers to start a family. Her decision to play in a PGA Tour event at Colonial in 2003, becoming the first woman in 58 years to do so, showed a competitive spirit that extended beyond women's golf.
