
Heike Drechsler won Olympic long jump gold in 1992 and then again in 2000 — eight years and a reunification apart. The East German-turned-German jumper had one of the most remarkable careers in field athletics, spanning from the GDR doping era through to the clean modern era. Her ability to win at the highest level across two completely different systems and eras is unique. Multiple world records in both long jump and sprints showed her extraordinary all-round talent.
